Introduction

The Park is surrounded by approximately 30km of boundary wall and boasts a substantial historical and architectonical patrimony, represented by over 20 protected buildings, among which, apart from the Borgo Castello complex, there are numerous old farmhouses, the remains of a medieval shelter and two hunting lodges: la Bizzaria and Villa Laghi. A large part of this patrimony is owing to Vittorio Emanuele II, the hunter king who elected the Park among his favourite residences.
To enable the full use of the facilities and buildings present within the regional area, especially for the purposes of tourism and education, certain important restoration and upgrading projects financed with European, state and regional funds are underway.

In particular, the recovery and valorisation project of “La Venaria Reale” is about to be completed. It includes the Reggia with its courtly gardens, Borgo Castello at La Mandria and the International Horse Centre at Cascina Rubbianetta, which is also situated within the Park.
Buildings already restored and open to the public include: the Royal Apartments, Ciabòt delle guardie, the Visitor Centre and the headquarters of the Park Environmental Education Service, Cascina Brero. The latter has always been used for recreational purposes, and now houses the headquarters of the permanent and interactive exhibition Al.Bo, ‘Understanding and playing with trees and woods’. Cascina Vittoria houses the Park stables and the small carriage museum, Cascina Rampa houses the mycological association of Piedmont and the mycological centre and Cascina Rubbianetta is the prestigious headquarters of the International Horse Centre.

Visitors will find the Information Point Ponte Verde at the entrance to Ponte Verde. The La Mandria park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
