Introduction

The organisation of the management authority of La Mandria Park, as well as other protected areas (Stura di Lanzo area, Collina di Rivoli, Monte Lera) currently boasts 60 permanent employees, in addition to short-term or contract employees, for a total of nearly 80 people. It is a complex organisation, distributed across various sectors to manage the protected areas and, for La Mandria, the management of the large regional endowment included in the more than 1,700 hectares of property.

Consequently, we have offices that are involved in the technical-environmental aspects, endowment maintenance services (more than 27 historical buildings), as well as a technical sector that follows more closely then public works and the problems associated with zoning.

As these areas are protected (albeit with varying means and levels of protection) and largely open to the public, in addition to the above-mentioned offices there are also all the people responsible for the various guided tours, equestrian activities, and marketing and public relations. External affairs are also performed at the Park entrances to provide full tourist information. There is also a service that manages environmental education and teaching, and develops programs that primarily involve schools.

Naturally, a security service is present, with the characteristic figure of “Park ranger”, common in all of the protected areas, with the task not only of repression, but also of prevention and information. It is important to also mention the strictly administrative areas, which are involved in human resources, accounting, purchasing, legal affairs, etc. The current permanent staff, to which is applied the Region-Local Administration collective contract, is comprised of 2 managers, 13 professionals, 16 Park rangers, 12 clerks (technical or administrative), 17 executors, as well as 9 short-term employees and other contract employees. 50% of the personnel is used in activities that require 24/7 presence (security, maintenance, public service) and on daily work shifts.

The Authority entrusts to third parties the welcoming and informational activities, guided visits, endowment maintenance, and makes use of volunteer support (rangers).

The work offices are inside the Park, and in particular, at the neo-gothic area of the Borgo Castle and some of its surrounding buildings, while the stables are located at Cascina Vittoria and maintenance services are at Cascina Comba.

The "park engine" is guided politically by the Board (named predominantly from this region), the Committee and the President, based on defined competencies, and follows the guidelines formulated by the Region; responsible for funding as well as the owner of La Mandria.
