Introduction
Borgo Castello is situated on high ground facing onto the “Ponte Verde” entrance to the La Mandria Park and may be accessed through an pedestrian-only figure of eight-shaped route in cobblestones via the Ciuchè side ramp.
The Borgo was already present in 1713 with a different layout to which the infrastructures of the horse breeding area were added within the space of a little over a century. The Royal Apartments were built between 1860 and 1870 near the front curtain to the east.
From the two side towers of the central structure there are two long wings, the closure of which gives rise to three internal courtyards. This building is flanked to the north by two further architectonical structures, which are distinct from each other and of different types.
The Royal Apartments are completely furnished and are open for guided tours.
The remainder of the complex is currently undergoing restoration works within the framework of the La Venaria project.
